Recipe:
I understand how difficult it is to feed breakfast to our school going kiddos. My simple strategy most of the time is to add colors, shapes and lot of them. Colored toast are my favorites. These are simple and quick and attractive. You can use any bread of your choice the color is going to hide everything and keep them guessing. Most of the time I use Wheat bread. And in different cups add 2 -3 tsp milk. Now it’s completely your choice to add edible colors. Or you can even use natural veg to add the colors. Like here I used beet root to make pinkish purplish color. I used mint and cilantro to make green color. You can use piece of raw turmeric for yellow. Berries or plums to add more colors and shades. All I do is add a piece of the fruit or vegetables to the milk and let it soak to pick the color. Also a drop of food color will do as well. Now pick up a paint brush or butter brush to paint your bread to desired shapes and colors. You can even make it a fun project by letting the kids do the painting part. Now once they are painted, you can simply toast it in toaster or oven and serve it with butter.

Another alternative is to use melted butter instead of milk. You can add colors the same way you would to milk. However be careful while toasting it. Do not use toaster instead use oven with a drip tray so that it would be easy to clean later. You can get crispier effect when you use butter instead of milk.

Few combinations that I use to serve breakfast to the kiddos are:
  1. Coloured toast + sprouts + fruits + cheese
  2. Coloured toast + fruits + nuts + fruit juice
  3. Coloured toast + cream cheese spread + smoothie
  4. Coloured toast + boiled broccoli and peas in cheese.
